This high performance home uses an unconventional building envelope to ensure that it’s using as little energy as possible for heating and cooling. Vleeming Construction has been awarded ‘Best Energy Efficient Home’ by BILD Central Alberta for this project and is a current finalist for BILD Alberta’s Energy Efficiency category.

With comfort and energy efficiency in mind, the project has achieved its goals for both performance and comfort.

This Net Zero in-fill project by Homes by Sorensen maintained the neighbourhood character while ensuring that the home performs extremely well, offsetting all consumption with on-site solar energy. New Street High Performance Home constructed by Homes by Sorensen in Calgary, Alberta, achieved low energy consumption through consultation. By optimizing the building envelope, assisting with window & HVAC selection and including solar photovoltaic, this home achieves “low energy status” by consuming 56% less energy than if it was built to the minimum energy requirements.
